American Express statement PDF → Excel or CSV
American Express statements list each charge with a transaction date and a process date, and mark payments and refunds with a CR suffix instead of a minus sign. Merchant details often wrap onto a second line that contains reference numbers. CleanStatement turns that into a clean list of charges and credits.

What an American Express statement looks like
American Express (UK and US) statements usually have these columns. The converter maps them to Date, Description, Money out, Money in, Amount and Balance.
- Transaction date
- Process date
- Transaction details (merchant, location, and often a reference number on a second line)
- Amount £ or $ (credits shown with "CR")
What CleanStatement handles for you
- Amounts with a CR suffix become money in (payments, refunds); everything else is money out.
- Numbers inside the wrapped detail lines (reference codes, foreign-currency amounts) are not mistaken for the transaction amount.
- Both dates are read; the transaction date is used for the Date column.
- Summary boxes such as Previous balance and Minimum payment are not exported as transactions.
Every release is tested against a synthetic American Express-style statement that copies this layout with made-up data. Real statements vary by account type and year. If yours doesn't convert cleanly, Pro users get priority fixes for their layout.

American Express statement conversion FAQ
Does it handle foreign-currency transactions?
The amount charged to your card is used. Foreign amounts and exchange-rate notes that appear in the detail lines stay in the description so you keep the information.
Does it work for US Amex statements?
Yes. The parser reads the column layout rather than a fixed template, and US and UK statements share the same structure of dates, details and CR credits.
Is my statement uploaded anywhere?
No. The PDF is opened and converted inside your browser. Only the converter code (and, for scanned pages, the OCR engine) is downloaded to your device. Your document is never sent to us.
What does the free plan include?
3 statements per day, up to 5 pages each, with Excel and CSV export and the balance check. Pro ($9/month or $59/year) removes the limits, adds batch conversion into one merged sheet and Chinese OCR.
Converting statements every month?
Pro is $9/month or $59/year: unlimited statements and pages, batch conversion into one merged sheet, and Chinese OCR for scanned statements.
