Bybit export → tax report Beta
Bybit lets you export trade, order and asset history. People searching for a "bybit tax report" usually discover those files list activity, not gains. TaxForms does not read Bybit files directly; here is what does work.
- Read in your browser: the file is never uploaded
- Each Form 8949 box is checked against the totals printed on the form
- Free preview and box totals check, no sign-up
Files are read in this browser tab and never uploaded.
What the exports contain
- Spot trade history: each fill with pair, side, quantity, price and fee.
- Derivatives history: closed P&L and funding payments, which are separate from spot sales.
- Asset history: deposits, withdrawals and transfers between accounts, needed so your tax software can follow coins in and out.
Getting to a tax report
- Import the exports (or an API connection) into crypto tax software that lists Bybit as a source; it builds the gain/loss report.
- Then use TaxForms to check a resulting gain/loss report in Coinbase's format, or a Form 1099-DA PDF if you have one, and turn it into Form 8949 and TurboTax CSVs.
- Bybit does not serve US residents, and its exports are not US tax forms. If you are not filing a US return, use the reports your country's tax software expects.
Example: spot trade fill versus derivatives P&L
| Type | Time (UTC) | Pair | Side | Qty | Value / P&L |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Spot fill | 2025-05-02 08:40 | BTCUSDT | Sell | 0.02 | 1,941.20 USDT |
| Perp closed P&L | 2025-05-09 13:05 | SOLUSDT | Close long | 15 | +86.40 USDT |
| Funding fee | 2025-05-09 16:00 | SOLUSDT | -0.92 USDT |
Spot sales need a cost basis; derivatives P&L and funding are usually reported differently. Your tax software or adviser decides the treatment. Figures are illustrative.
FAQ
Is my Bybit file uploaded?
No. It is opened inside your browser tab and the output files are built there. Nothing about your account or trades is sent to us.
Does TaxForms read Bybit CSVs?
No. Supported today: 1099-B and 1099-DA PDFs, Coinbase CSVs and Kraken ledgers.
What about Coinbase or Kraken transfers to Bybit?
Convert those exports with TaxForms and bring them into the same tax software, so transfers between exchanges line up.
What does the free version include?
Every row in the preview and the full box totals check, free. Downloads include the first 10 rows of each file. A TaxForms pass ($12 once, valid until October 15, 2027) or CleanStatement Pro unlocks every row.
Is this tax advice?
TaxForms is a file-conversion and arithmetic-check tool. It is not tax advice, doesn't calculate cost basis, and doesn't prepare or file your return. Check every figure against your original forms, and ask a tax professional if you're unsure how something should be reported.
